Margo Rose's Wee Village designs of the secret dwellings
of wee people have been delighting us since January 2003. And
now, by special request, I have designed
some wee inhabitants for these wee dwellings.
Once I started designing them, these wee
folk began to sort of breathe on their own and take
over - I hope they enchant you as much as they've enchanted
me!

After designing Holly and Mistletoe, I decided two more
Christmas Fairies were needed for design purposes (table runners,
banners, wallhangings, etc.). As I was creating Poinsettia and
Rosemary, I started thinking that the fairies would be perfect subjects
for watercolor paintings to use for Christmas cards. It wasn't
long before I thought "Why settle for paper cards? Why not make
these as quilted fabric cards?" So I designed them as 8" x 10"
blocks that can be used individually or in groups of 3 or 4.

The wee folk can be made as simple or as fancy,
as young or as old, as wee tiny or as wee big, as
your heart desires. The Wee Folk patterns come
with three sizes: small, medium and large. The small
size easily fits through the doors and windows of the
wee houses. The medium size can squeeze through
most of the doors and windows, but looks best out in front
of the houses (in the foreground). And the large size
was created with Margo's Wee Village special border in mind: tuck
a Wee Person peeking out from behind a rose or sleeping on a
sunflower or climbing an elm branch.
Hand-Dyed Fabrics
Kimberly Darwin's luscious hand-dyed fabrics
were used to color the Wee Folk. Fabrics can be

Important Notice: Kimberly's home was
destroyed by hurricane Katrina and Kimberly has had to close her business
while dealing with the forced adventure of relocating and starting over.
We wish Kimberly and her family much success and hope to see her wonderful
fabrics online again someday.
